HealthCare change for Florida State Employees

Florida State Governor Ron DeSantis signed into Law a new bill that could allow the Health Insurance Program servicing State Employees to be overhauled and improved.

The bill (HB1113) will allow the Department of Management Services to review current contracts with HMO's, PPO's and Prescription Programs and develop a plan to acquire new contracts for benefits beginning in 2023.

This is a major change as more than half of those currently enrolled mad the choice to enroll in an HMO.

Also included in the new law is a requirement that the state adds a Prescription Drug formulary to the Employee Insurance Program as well as the Patient Savings Act which will introduce an incentive program to encourage plan members to shop for available health services and share in the savings that result.
